Working visit of researchers from the University of Arizona, USA

Scientists Ramzi Touchan, Dave Meko and Irina Panyushkina from the Arizona University, USA were on a working visit to Khakass Technical Institute. The goal of their visit was to discuss joint priorities of research in the field of dendroecology and dendroclimatology, as well as the preparation of joint scientific-educational activities.
During the three-day visit colleagues from the United States conducted joint field trip with the researchers from our dendroecological Laboratory for the selection of wood samples in the Republic of Khakassia.
Also during the visit the sides discussed prospects of joint research on problems of climate dynamics in the region, the role of dendroecological research of Khakassia on a global scale.
Particular emphasis was placed on problems of ecological education of the young generation. They noted the importance of attracting young people to scientific studies that deal with environmental issues, such as climate change at regional and global levels. The sides discussed prospects of a joint Russian – American scientific-educational summer school on the basis of the educational-research laboratory “Dendroecology and Ecological Monitoring” Khakass Technical Institute – branch of Siberian Federal University.
