The laboratory team in collaboration with colleague from the University of Arizona (Tucson, USA) prof. David Meko carried out a comprehensive study of climatic changes in the Khakass-Minusinsk Depression within the framework of regional and global warmingб as well as due creation of two large water reservoirs.

Continental regions of Eurasia are experiencing a warming rate that is significantly higher than the global one, primarily in winter. In the Khakass-Minusinsk Depression, this climatic dynamics was additionally modified by the creation of the Krasnoyarsk and Sayano-Shushensky reservoirs. Winter temperatures increased even more, while summer temperatures, on the contrary, stabilized. This led to a change in the length of the vegetative season. Shifts in the timing and intensity of the climatic response were identified for Scots pine and Siberian larch, the predominant coniferous species in the moisture-sensitive forest and forest-steppe ecosystems across the region.

The results of the spatio-temporal analysis were published in the international journal Scientific Reports published by Springer Nature. The journal publishes articles open access and is included in the first quartile of ratings in scientific bases Scopus and Web of Science. Its impact factor is 4.379 (2020).
