International conference TRACE 2021

Researchers of the laboratory Zhirnova Dina F. and Belokopytova Liliana V. took part in one of the leading international dendrochronological conferences, "Tree Rings in Archeology, Climatology and Ecology" TRACE 2021 (Lund, Sweden), held in a virtual format on June 16-17, 2021.

This conference has been held annually in different European countries since 2002. However, last year, due to a difficult epidemiological situation, the event was canceled. In 2021, for the same reason, the conference was held in the form of online sessions in ZOOM.

The two-day conference program consisted of four sessions:

Session 1: Trees in a Changing Climate – Dendroclimatology
Session 2: Old Wood in the Limelight – Dendroarchaeology
Session 3: Inside Wood – Wood Anatomy
Session 4: Cutting Edge Dendrochronology – New approaches and methods.

About 150 scientists from different countries took part in online meetings (Sweden, Great Britain, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Canada, Germany, Japan, Russia, Denmark, USA, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, India, Spain, Netherlands, Argentina, Latvia, Romania, Chile, Colombia, Turkey, France, Brazil, Bulgaria, Portugal, etc.). The program included oral presentations, discussion of posters and video-presentations presented in the virtual gallery.

The conference website contains its program, Book of Abstracts, and Poster Gallery.

Despite the impossibility of holding the event in person, the organizers made great efforts to create opportunities for personal communication and scientific dialogue between the participants.
