Elena Babushkina was elected as a Corresponding Member of RAS

On May 30, 2025, in Moscow, at the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the results of the election for members of the RAS were summed up. In this election, about 1800 people took part.
A few numbers:
The last time the election was held 3 years ago, in 2022.
The election procedure began back in January, candidates sent documents fr om January 13 to February 26, 2025. The full list of registered candidates for Academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences was published in the newspaper POISK, No. 12 (1866) dated March 21, 2025 with an addition in No. 14 dated April 4, 2025.
Candidates defended their scientific achievements first before general meetings of the RAS branches, and then at the all-Russian level.
84 people were elected as Academicians, including 8 women scientists, out of 353 people who submitted documents. 8 Siberian scientists were elected as Academicians.
165 scientists were elected as Corresponding Members, including 27 women, out of 1,455 candidates. The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences welcomed 25 new Corresponding Members.
Also, 39 foreign members of the RAS were elected, representing 20 countries.
The average age of the elected Academicians was 64 years, and that of the Corresponding Members was 58 years.
Among the scientists elected as Corresponding Members of the RAS in the Siberian Branch, there is Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Elena Babushkina (https://www.sbras.ru/ru/person/53613), Director of the Khakass Technical Institute, Siberian Federal University, Professor of the Department of Construction and Economics and Scientific Consultant of the Scientific and Educational Laboratory of Dendroecology and Environmental Monitoring.
Elena became the first and so far the only Corresponding Member of the RAS in the Republic of Khakassia in the entire history of the region.
And on June 26, Elena Babushkina already took part in a meeting of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, wh ere she received congratulations and welcoming words from Academician Vasily Mikhailovich Fomin, Deputy Chairman of the SB RAS.
