Conference of Schoolchildren “Science is our Future”

"Green Living Room" of our laboratory once again opened its doors. This time we hosted the youngest participants of the Regional Scientific and Practical Conference of Schoolchildren "Science is our Future" (April 26, 2019). The conference was carried out in several fields of science; the jury consisted of the institute staff and students.
Laboratory “Dendroecology and Ecological Monitoring” organized and evaluated the performances of schoolchildren in the field of Ecology, divided into two sections according to age. In our "Green Living Room", younger students (grades 2-4) told and vividly demonstrated their research on such diverse topics as the impact on human health of various foods and beverages; environmental pollution and its consequences for animals and birds; the use of the gifts of nature in everyday life, home medical kit and even as a plant growth stimulants; growing of exotic plants at home. In total, the section had about dozen reports.
Despite the young age and the stress of public speaking, the children showed that they are truly passionate about research, well-versed in their topics and sincerely concerned about nature. After the performance of all participants and before the announcement of the results, staff member Belokopytova L.V. conducted an exciting tour of the laboratory. Schoolchildren, their scientific advisors and parents examined the expositions with interest, asked many questions, and discussed the possibility of carrying out subsequent school research projects under the guidance of laboratory staff.
