Advanced training of the laboratory employees

Two Senior Researchers of the laboratory, Dina F. Zhirnova (Cand. Biol. Sci., Associate Professor) and Liliana V. Belokopytova (PhD), successfully completed advanced training courses under the additional professional program: "Forensic botanical expertise of trees and wood using dendrochronology methods"(94 academic hours).
The courses were organized by "ZDOROVY LES" LLC (Moscow , https://zles.ru/, https://treeschool.ru) and underwent in a distance format from February 15 to March 16, 2021. The Moscow School of Tree Care "ZDOROVY LES" specializes in training highly professional arborists, specialists in the field of tree health monitoring and care, forestry experts, and landscape architects. The school is recognized by the European Arbocultural Council (EAC) as a National Certification Center, and has the right to certify specialists for compliance with European Tree Worker and European Tree Technician standards in the Russian Federation.
The training course consisted of the following modules:
Module 1. Fundamentals of forensic expertise.
Module 2. General concepts of botanical expertise and dendrochronology. Their relationship and application possibilities.
Module 3. Application of botanical expertise in the investigation of illegal logging.
Module 4. Fundamentals of wood science.
Module 5. Illegal logging. A sample of writing an expert report (structure, sections, formatting).
Module 6. Equipment used for the production of forensic botanical extertise of tree species using dendrochronology methods.
